COLLEGE STATION, TX (September 21, 2026) — McClaren Farms, the Walmart-exclusive USDA Prime and Choice Angus beef brand behind the coveted Texas Smokehouse line, today announced an exciting new designation as the Official Smokehouse of Texas A&M Athletics. The partnership debuted on Saturday, September 12, while the Aggies took the field for their Red, White and Blue Game, broadcast live on ABC.
As part of the announcement, McClaren Farms appeared across LED signage at Kyle Field, which will continue during home games throughout the season. A new video also rolled out across Texas A&M's 12th Man App, the Athletics department's morning newsletter, AggieAM, as well as student-athletes' social channels, introducing fans to McClaren’s high-quality beef.
“Few institutions truly understand agriculture, and what it takes to do it right, like Texas A&M,” said Bob McClaren, founder of McClaren Farms. “That’s why this partnership means so much to us. Our mission at McClaren Farms is to take steakhouse-quality beef and make it something every family can put on their table. There’s no better partner to share in that mission than the Aggie community, who champion and train generations of our country’s incredible ranchers.”
The news builds on years of collaboration between Texas A&M Athletics and McClaren Farms' affiliate company, 44 Farms, which has served as the University's official beef partner since signing a multi-year partnership in 2021. Bob McClaren, a College Station native who raised two Aggies of his own, has close ties to the University as co-chair of the Kyle Field and Blue Bell Park redevelopment committees. He also established the renowned 44 Farms International Beef Cattle Academy at Texas A&M.
“Great partnerships are built around authentic connections, and McClaren Farms brings a story and a product that resonate deeply with the Texas A&M community,” said Tom Severino, General Manager of Aggie Sports Enterprises. “We’re excited to help bring McClaren Farms to the 12th Man as the Official Smokehouse of Texas A&M Athletics and create meaningful opportunities for Aggies to discover the brand. It’s a partnership that celebrates Texas, agriculture and the traditions that bring our community together.”
The Official Smokehouse designation builds on McClaren Farms' introduction of its Texas Smokehouse line at Walmart earlier this year, offering seven BBQ-centric cuts of USDA Prime and Choice Angus beef, including brisket, ribeye and burnt ends, at more than 240 Walmart stores across Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas. Behind every cut stands a network of more than 1,200 American ranchers across 38 states, all committed to raising Angus cattle with full transparency from pasture to plate.
