After Local Success, Ancient Snack Expands Sales Online

GOSHEN, NY (Sept. 23rd, 2024) – Goshen Snacks, the world's only manufacturer of the biblical whole grain treat known as KLOYES™, has gone national with its new online store goshensnacks.com.

 

“A little over a year ago, I started Goshen Snacks with a focus on sales to local groceries. Our line of KLOYES™ has seen success in local kosher retail locations and now is the time to offer this delicious product to a wider audience”, said Yisroel Bass, Founder of Goshen Snacks. 

 

Goshen Snacks got its start when Yisroel Bass, a wheat grower in Goshen, NY, uncovered a long lost treat referenced in centuries old Jewish law books. "Not exactly where you would think to find snack ideas," he said with a chuckle. Digging deeper, he found the snack mentioned in the book of Leviticus. 

 

In 2013, Mr. Bass had just begun growing wheat for matzo production. During his review of the correct procedures for a kosher wheat harvest he came across a reference to kloyes. Plain and simple, the word referred to roasted wheat, but how to prepare it remained a mystery.

 

“I prepared wheat in every way until I discovered a preparation that yelled the tastiest results." After years of experimenting, he was ready to bring the handcrafted snack to market. It is currently available in original salted, mesquite smoked and sunflower varieties.

 

The new website includes a blog, distributor portal, and multiple purchasing options, from loose bulk to retail packaging. 

 

Before launching the product in 2022, Mr. Bass reached out to a friend in the food industry to see if there was anything like it on the market already. “The resounding answer was no, everything remotely like it was fried”, said Mr. Bass. Since its launch Goshen Snacks has remained committed to producing KLOYES™ oil and sugar free. 

 

The calorie count bears witness, there are just 35 calories per serving! Goshen Snacks has seen particular popularity among children and young adults who consume it like nuts or candy. “Kids actually trade away their candy for it”, added Mr. Bass. Minimally processed, heart and gut healthy, guilt-free snacking has never tasted so good.
