In its first year of operation, refugee employment initiative UNSTUCK has garnered significant support from the CPG community. Launched by The Tent Partnership for Refugees, a nonprofit founded by Chobani founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, the initiative seeks to develop products that source ingredients from suppliers that employ refugees.
The model creates systemic and tangible change by helping brands support and create jobs for refugees rather than simply making a monetary donation. Currently UNSTUCK has a range of supplier partnerships in Colombia and Peru due to their high volumes of refugees and is working to expand globally, according to program director Nick O’Flaherty.
The latest products made with brands who have signed onboard with UNSTUCK supported suppliers include: Chobani Vanilla Greek Yogurt with Tropical Fruit, That’s it. Mango Probiotic Fruit Bar, La Colombe Monaco Medium Roast Coffee, GoodPop Mango Chile popsicle, Petit Pot Dark Chocolate Organic French Dessert, and Pitaya Foods Natural Passion Fruit Pieces and Organic Avocado Pieces.
