About the Packaging Supervisor role

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Lead operations for 5-10 team member packaging team
  • Perform and assist with initial training for packaging team members
  • Assist with all staff scheduling for BOH packaging operation
  • Lead and cultivate a staff of direct reports and ensure capability of meeting/exceeding the packaging demands of the brewery.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain our Krones canning machine including line changeovers between all packaging formats
  • Set up, operate, and maintain our IDD Mini King kegging machine for the full variety of draft container offerings
  • Full ownership of troubleshooting and resolving packaging equipment slow-downs (e.g. can-jams, low-fills)
  • Liaise with management team to provide key manufacturing information by compiling, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data
  • Contribute to, continuously develop and rely on packaging performance metrics to maximize output
  • Improve production process efficiency by continuously streamlining SOP’s 
  • As needed, assist on and liaise with the procurement process for packaging cooperage
  • Identify and implement improvements to maximize package quality and operations efficiency
  • Pick and prepare packaging raw materials including folding case trays and washing kegs
  • Pick, document, and load finished beer to be distributed to our customers
  • Contribute to regularly scheduled employee reviews in conjunction with HR department
  • Contributes to top-level organizational commitment to safety throughout all operations


Packaging Supervisor qualifications:

At a minimum, the Packaging Supervisor must have the following:

  • 2+ years of experience operating packaging equipment (prefer: food or beverage packaging)
  • Ability to mechanically maintain and adjust packaging equipment to improve its operation
  • Experience with packaging equipment changeovers and mechanical adjustments
  • Experience with at least 5+ direct reports
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to regularly lift/carry heavy supplies, like bags of grain and kegs of beer
  • Ability to work in a brewery environment which may be loud, slick, humid, and hot
  • Ability to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles
  • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack
  • Good interpersonal skills and team spirit
  • The desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company 
  • Strong work ethic and self-starting attitude
