Pre-made sandwich brand Chubby Snacks is ready to challenge category leader Uncrustables with a better-for-you option. The line of sandwiches accounted for $160 million in sales for parent company Smucker’s during the first quarter, with expectations it will hit over a billion dollars in annual sales within five years. 

Yet despite the market opportunity, few natural brands have entered the set successfully. In this video, filmed at Expo East 2022 in Philadelphia, NOSH Editor Carol Ortenberg spoke with Chubby Snacks CEO and co-founder Dillon Ceglio about the category’s barriers to entry, how the emerging brand used D2C sales to show product/market fit and why investors have recently put more capital into the brand.
