Better-for-you chip brand Good Crisp, which sells its chips stacked in recyclable canisters, this year debuted a new design that eschews its previously muted, brown-toned color palate for brighter backgrounds and a bold black font. It’s a design move that emphasizes whimsy and fun and that moves the branding closer to the bright, conventional salty snacks (such as Pringles) that it wants to compete against.
The gluten-free brand was originally Australia-based and reached the U.S. in 2017, with national retail presence, mostly in natural stores, by late 2018. But as it seeks to expand further into conventional retail, a bolder approach was necessary to stand out. While in natural snacks the stacked canister design is a rarity, in conventional it might play right next to known brands like Lay’s and Pringles.
