Envera is a legal entity of Lesaffre located in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Envera manufactures bacteria solutions for Lesaffre BUs and different market segments such as wastewater treatment, bioremediation, cleaning solutions and many other areas where bacteria can play a key role.

What you bring to the table
Proficiency in industrial fermentation operations for large-scale bacterial production, utilizing fermenters, centrifuges, spray dryers, and CIP skids. Ability to collaborate with Shift Supervisor and Fermentation Manager on continuous improvement innovations, training new employees, process troubleshooting, and action items for the team. Possess strong troubleshooting skills and strong mechanical aptitude, as well as understanding of process controls and automation.
Exhibit competent computer skills to process controls and automation. Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate daily interactions with diverse teams within the organization. Potential for growth in this hands-on biomanufacturing role.
Ability to work 2nd shift
A few responsibilities you will have as the Industrial Fermentation Lead Operator
- Prepare, batch, sterilize, monitor, and process production-scale fermenters. This includes (but not limited to) media preparation, probe calibration, pH adjustment, batch sterilization/autoclaving, inoculum preparation, down-stream processing, etc. as directed by the Fermentation Supervisor.
- Streamline workflow, ensure work areas are kept clean and organized, adapting to changing conditions on the floor while maintaining 5S standards.
- Perform basic microbiological tests when the fermentations lab is not available.
- Utilize both manual and automated control systems to execute batches according to SOP.
- Fermentation monitoring, aseptic sampling, and benchtop measurements throughout the process.
- Facilitate smooth handoffs of products and samples between Fermentation, QC, and Production teams.
- Safely work in manufacturing areas, following forklift, confined space, work-from-height, chemical handling, and LOTO safety procedures without deviation.
- Ability to handle basic repairs and simple troubleshooting as necessary.
- Assist with efforts in other departments when needed.
- Maintain clean and organized 5S work areas.
- Ensuring effectiveness in the Fermentation Department according to specifications and within budget requires a balanced approach that optimizes raw materials, energy usage, equipment, and productivity.
To succeed you must have
- Leadership experience in a work team is necessary.
- Industrial experience required.
- Bachelor of Science in a related field is preferred, but not essential.
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail is necessary.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
