The Role
We’re seeking a Head of Brewery Operations to oversee production and elevate our brewing, packaging, and quality control systems. You’ll lead our brewery team, implement best-in-class practices, and ensure every pint and package meets the highest standards of consistency and quality.
This is a hands-on leadership role. While you’ll be responsible for setting strategy and building systems, you’ll also roll up your sleeves when needed — leading by example on the brewhouse floor, packaging line, or in the cellar.
You will report directly to the Head of Operations & Finance / Ownership Group.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement brewery operations strategies, policies, and procedures to support company goals.
- Oversee brewing, cellaring, and packaging operations to ensure beer is produced on time, within budget, and at the highest quality.
- Build and enforce a rigorous QC/QA program across all products.
- Ensure consistency and reliability at distribution scale, from tank to package.
- Manage procurement, inventory, and cost control to optimize efficiency.
- Implement and maintain brewery management software (Ekos) for planning, tracking, and reporting.
- Supervise, hire, and train brewery staff; conduct performance evaluations and foster employee development.
- Ensure proper staffing levels and the right people in the right roles.
- Oversee safety programs and regulatory compliance (TTB, FDA, OSHA, state/local).
- Monitor and analyze performance data; identify issues and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with leadership on production planning, capacity, and long-term scaling.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years in a production brewery environment (brewing, cellaring, packaging).
- 5+ years in a management or supervisory role.
- 4-year degree in Food Science, Brewing Technology, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Proven ability to design and manage quality control programs.
- Hands-on experience with canning/kegging lines and distribution-scale brewing.
- Experience with procurement, inventory management, and cost control.
- Familiarity with brewery software (Ekos or similar).
- Experience in HR functions (hiring, training, staff development).
- Strong knowledge of safety programs and compliance regulations.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Brewing education or certifications a plus, but not required.
