Mad River Distillers is hiring a Weekend Distiller at our Warren, Vermont, distillery. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented individual interested in hands-on production of award-winning whiskey and rum. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, comfortable working alone, and lives within commuting distance of Warren.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate distillation equipment, including mashing, fermenting, distilling, barreling, and proofing spirits
- Follow precise cleaning and sanitation protocols to maintain a safe, high-quality production environment
- Log production records digitally and manage basic forecasting in Excel
- Communicate with the team via email and internal systems
- Lead public tours of the distillery and engage with visitors as a brand ambassador
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and safety
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve in a production setting
- Reliable transportation and punctuality
- Comfortable speaking with the public and leading tours
- Must live within reasonable commuting distance of Warren, VT
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in hot/cold environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a distillery, brewery, or food/beverage production facility is helpful, but we will train the right person
- Familiarity with distilling, brewing, or fermentation processes is a plus
- Ability to drive a forklift and/or a trailer is a plus
Additional Information:
- Applicants must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a background check
- Training will take place Monday–Friday, transitioning to a Wednesday–Sunday schedule once the candidate is self-sufficient (typically 12 months for those without prior experience)
