It can be easy to try to lump consumers into neat boxes: Meat eaters or vegetarians, Ketogenic eaters or low-fat dieters. Sugar-free or indulgence seekers. But in truth, most consumers fall along a spectrum — call it the flexitarian public.

At Natural Products Expo East conference, this spectrum of dietary habits was apparent across categories, as brands launched new products, line extensions and reformulations designed to appeal to a broad swath of shoppers. In this video, BevNET CEO John Craven and NOSH Editor Carol Ortenberg sat down to review notable trends and brands from this year’s Expo East, including developments in plant-based dairy items, the reframing of meal kits as “meal solutions” and advances in sustainable animal protein offerings.
