Earlier this year frozen food company Cappello’s launched new heat-and-eat cookie dough balls, the latest step in the company’s efforts to move beyond a focus on Italian cuisine and instead become a platform for grain-free, frozen food.
Unlike other gluten-free cookie doughs on the market, the two Bakery Style SKUs don’t shy away from other allergens like eggs and dairy. Instead the goal is to hit low carb or gluten-free consumers who want an indulgent treat – with the company betting that more shoppers simply want a better-for-you option to Pillsbury rather than a totally free-from product. The new products are also unique for their gusseted bag packaging, a first for Cappello’s that was made possible after the company expanded its production facility this year.
