Partake

Allergy-friendly food brand Partake Foods had a busy year in 2021 as it expanded into new categories and retailers while also advancing its dedication to social causes.

The company kicked off the year by raising $4.8 million and soon expanded beyond ready-to-eat cookies with a slew of new baking mixes including vegan brownies and blondies, pizza crusts, and a 5-in-1 mix for pancakes, waffles, muffins or cakes. The five-year-old brand also saw notable retail gains this year, including adding 1,950 Kroger stores, bringing its footprint to over 6,000 retailers including Target, Whole Foods and Sprouts.

Partake, led by founder and CEO Denise Woodard, continued to advocate for diversity and inclusion in the food industry this year. In October, it launched the second cohort of its Black Futures in Food and Beverage Program, bringing together fellows from Historically Black Universities (HBUs) for an eight week CPG crash course. The company also worked to address racial and economic inequity in the food allergy community, with Woodard joining a roundtable series with FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) to discuss how brands can support food allergies BIPOC and low-income communities.
