New Products From The Winter Fancy Foods Show

With over 1,000 brands exhibiting at this year’s Winter Fancy Foods show, there was a wide range of new products on display from plant-based protein alternatives to better-for-you indulgent treats. As we reported earlier this week, many exhibitors were eager to discuss the unique and often environmentally-conscious supply networks that helped create these new innovations. Check out the roundup below for a selection of notable new products spotted during this year’s show.

Planet Based Foods

Plant-based protein maker Planet Based Foods debuted its line of hemp-based meat alternatives at the show. The frozen 5-SKU line includes burgers in Original and Green Chili Southwest styles, Breakfast Sausage in Hot and Mild flavors and two crumble varieties: Italian and Original. Made with hemp seed, pea protein and brown rice, the company said the resulting protein is nutrient and fiber-dense and is made through a zero-waste production process. Planet Based Foods products are sold online for $19 per 2 patties, sausages or a 8 oz pouch of crumbles.

Balanced Bushel

Columbia Grain International, a U.S.-based bean and legume supplier, introduced its first brand, Balanced Bushel, with a product portfolio of lentils, chickpeas, split green peas and navy, pinto, black and small red beans. Available in 16 oz. and 32 oz. packs, the line will be sold via online, grocery and specialty stores as well as through select food service distributors.

Little Shop of Bagels

Thaw-and-bake bagel line Wake-N-Bagel launched its third flavor, Raisin-Cinnamon, alongside upgraded “retailer-friendly” packaging at this year’s Fancy Food show. The new flavor joins a lineup of Plain, Onion, and Hiker-Everything in the frozen section of retailers such as Whole Foods, Metropolitan Markets and Market of Choice stores across Oregon and Washington. According to the company, the new pack enables more options for placement in the frozen aisle. In addition to retail, 4-packs of Wake-N-Bagels are also available online for $8.99.

Runamok

Maple syrup producer Runamok expanded its line of hot and infused honeys to include flavors such as hibiscus, lemon verbena, chipotle morita and szechuan peppercorn. The Vermont-based company also added a new maple-infused Smoked Old Fashioned cocktail mixer to its portfolio alongside a bitters line in flavors such as Orange Maple, Floral Maple and Aromatic Maple. The new products are available online and at specialty stores nationwide in a range of sizes and variety pack gift sets.

LivBar

Liv Foods introduced a new formulation for its organic ancient grain and seed bar line, omitting honey from the recipe to create a vegan-friendly offering. The bars are wrapped in a “Home-compostable” packaging and available in five flavors ranging from lemon ginger turmeric to coffee maple cacao. LivBar products are available online and at select retailers nationwide for $33 per 12 bars.

The Spice Lab

The Spice Lab debuted a range of new products at this year’s Fancy Food show including 15 new seasoning blend pouches, an asian-inspired Nom Nom Paleo Seasoning Collection, a coarse salt-based Pizza Dust seasoning and a variety of internationally-inspired blends including African, Middle Eastern and Asian mixes. The all-natural and OU Kosher spices are packaged in 150 ml jars and available online and at select retailers nationwide.

The Republic of Tea

Expanding on its Star Wars-themed tea line, The Republic of Tea introduced new blends inspired by Disney+ shows The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett while also debuting collaborative products including Focus, Relax and Rest teas made in partnership with mental health app Calm. In addition to co-branded teas, the company also unveiled Organic Jasmine Green Tea, Jasmine Pearls Full-Leaf Tea, Desert Sage and Apple Pie Chai blends at the show.

Hemp Love

Chocolate bar maker Hemp Love debuted three new coconut-milk based chocolate bars in flavors including Roasted Almond, Coconut and Espresso. The vegan and paleo-friendly bars contain the brand’s trademarked HEMP SEED CRUNCH and do not contain any THC or CBD. The bars are made with ethically sourced cacao from South America and sweetened with maple syrup. Hemp Love’s chocolate bars are available at Erewhon, Whole Foods and select independent retailers for $36 per 6 bars.

Vine to Bar

Upcycled food maker Vine to Bar made its debut with a line of dark chocolate products infused with its trademarked WellVine Chardonnay Marc ingredient. WellVine is made from spent grapes leftover from winemaking and adds gut and heart health support to Vine to Bar products. The brand currently sells single-serve tasting squares, full-sized bars and chocolate covered almonds. Vine to Bar products are available online and at select specialty retailers.

Frooze Ball

Vegan snack maker Frooze Ball added its fifth “double-filled” flavor, Raspberry Dark Choc, to its line of gluten-free energy bites. The new flavor includes the brand’s flagship dates, nuts and coconut ball, filled with fruit-sweetened raspberry jam and dark chocolate sauce. The new addition joins a lineup that also features PB&J, Lemon Cheesecake, Choc Hazelnut and Blueberry Crumble varieties and is available online for a limited time.

Bold Palate Foods

Plant-based salad dressing maker Bold Palate debuted with a 4-SKU line including an Apple Spice Vinaigrette, a beet-infused dressing, a cauliflower-based ranch dressing and “Hint of Harissa.” Each variety is made with organic tea and vegetables as the main ingredients and features a blend of spices and herbs. Bold Palate dressings are available online in a range of variety and single-flavor packs.
