The Latest Sweet and Savory Snack Launches

Food companies debuted a range of new better-for-you products in both the sweet and savory snacking categories this month, including the arrival of some newcomers such as Days Off and BodyBar. Additionally, the international aisle saw plenty of innovation with new Indian spice blend packs from moji masala and a Yuzu-flavored Japanese barbecue sauce from Bachan’s. Protein brand BodyBar debuted with a line of bars in Apple Cinnamon, Sweet Cocoa and Chocolate Brownie flavors. The bars come in both vegan-friendly and non-vegan varieties and contain grass-fed whey, grass-fed collagen, no added sugar and 8 grams of fiber. BodyBar’s debut line is available online in a 10-count box for $35.

Bachan's

Condiment brand Bachan’s debuted a Yuzu Japanese Barbecue Sauce this month containing Yuzu juice from Japan, resulting in a tart, umami-filled sauce. The non-GMO, cold-filled sauce contains no artificial flavors, preservatives and is shelf-stable. Bachan’s Yuzu Japanese Barbecue Sauce is available online and at retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $9.99.

Cannabis brand Enjoy Hemp launched a new line of Delta-8 THC gummies with a range of functions and flavors including Relief (Strawberry), Euphoria (Blue Raspberry), Uplift (Mango) and Relaxation (Pineapple). Each gummy contains 50 mg of Delta-8 and are available online and through select dispensaries for $39.99 per 15-count and $59.99 for a 30-count pack.

Days Off

Indulgent snack maker Days Off unveiled a line of plant-based chocolate bites blended with adaptogens for mood-support functionality. The bites are available in six varieties including both dark and “mylk” chocolate options and functions ranging from Energize Me to Zen Zone. Days Off bites are available in multi-serving jars online for $54 for 3 jars and $90 for a 6-jar “full experience” pack.

Better-for-you candy maker BEHAVE added Pink Pineapple Sour Stars to its portfolio of low-sugar candies. The gummy stars contain 60 calories and 7 grams of carbs per serving and contain sweeteners such as monk fruit and allulose. BEHAVE’s Pink Pineapple Sour Stars are available online in single-serve bags for $30 per 6-bags.

Mauna Loa

Mauna Loa

Macadamia nut producer Mauna Loa added two new Hawiian-inspired flavors of macadamia milk ice creams to its lineup -- Strawberry Guava and Moloka‘i Sea Salt & Caramel. The Strawberry Guava flavor officially rolled out this summer while the caramel variety will reach retailers in 2022. Both new flavors of the plant-based ice creams are packaged in pints and will be available online and at select retailers nationwide for $9.99 each.

Specifically developed to be added to a cocktail, new brand Booze Dust debuted with three flavors of electrolyte-infused and functional, immune-support powders. The plant-based products contain no calories, sugar or carbs and come in Pink Lemonade, Lemon Lime and Grapefruit flavors. Each 3.7 oz glass bottle makes about 30 cocktails and are available online for $22.49 for a single flavor bottle and for $44.99 per 3-count variety pack.

California-based food company Cadence Kitchen added two new entrees to its portfolio of flash-frozen meals: Gluten-Free Pasta with Chicken in a Cheese & BBQ Sauce and Five Cheese Fiocchetti with Beef Bolognese. The entrees are ready-to-eat in 10 minutes and are available in the freezer aisle of select retailers nationwide including Lucky Supermarkets, Food Lion, Meijer and Fresh Thyme.

Food company Feel Good Foods added Gluten-Free Danish-Style Pancake Bites to its lineup of frozen breakfast products in Buttermilk and Wildberry varieties. The pancakes can be prepared in the microwave and are made with cage-free eggs and rice flour. Each bag contains 12 Pancake Bites and are available at select retailers for a suggested retail price of $6.99.

LikeMeat

Plant-based alternative meat maker LikeMeat launched Like Chick’n Wings this month at select Sprouts locations. The bone-free vegan wings contain 11 grams of protein and come with a Buffalo sauce to be added during preparation. LikeMeat’s Chick’n Wings are available in the freezer aisle for a suggested retail price of $14.99 per 1 lb., family-size bag.

Illinois-based Great Lakes Wellness introduced four new quick-dissolving, Collagen Peptide powders in Daily Marine, Daily Beauty, Daily Joint and Daily Digestion varieties. Daily Marine is made with wild-caught, sustainably-sourced fish while the other varieties contain grass-fed collagen and each supplement features additional functional ingredients including biotin, vitamin C, MSM and probiotics. Great Lakes Collagen products are available at select natural retailers nationwide such as Publix, Fresh Thyme and Natural Grocers for between $27 to $29.99 per 8 oz. canister.

Athlete and Krave Brand Ambassador Shaun White introduced a new co-branded product with the brand: Gold Label Spicy Sesame Ginger Beef Jerky. The grass-fed, gluten-free jerky contains 9 grams of protein per serving and no artificial ingredients. The limited-edition Spicy Sesame Ginger Beef Jerky is available online for $5.99 per 2.7 oz. pack and will roll out to select retailers nationwide in early 2022.

Spice brand moji masala debuted this month with 12 Indian spice blends packaged in pre-proportioned packs which contain between two to four-servings. Each blend features a recommended plant-based recipe and additional cooking videos which can be accessed through a QR code located on the packet. The responsibly-sourced blends include spices such as cumin, coriander seed, green and black cardamom, ginger powder, clove, fennel seed and turmeric and are available online for between $4-$10 per packet, depending on the variety.

Hemp brand Willie’s Remedy, inspired by musician Willie Nelson, introduced a new, limited-edition Wildflowers Tea in collaboration with the estate of another rock legend, Tom Petty. Wildflowers Tea contains full-spectrum hemp extract and a blend of chamomile flowers, lemon myrtle flowers and peppermint leaves. The new teas are available in biodegradable pyramid bags and loose leaf formats and proceeds from every sale of Wildflowers Tea will be donated to charity organization MusiCares.

Pasta sauce maker Ragú unveiled an updated look for its entire portfolio that “makes the most” of the brand’s iconic yellow cap. In addition to the rebrand, Ragú launched its “Cook Like a Mother” marketing campaign to compliment its new look. Ragú sauces are available at select retailers nationwide.

Meat snack maker Vermont Smoke & Cure introduced Hickory Smoked Uncured Bacon Pork Mini Sticks in 0.5 oz. to-go packs. Each pack contains 5 sticks and will be available at select retailers nationwide in early 2022.

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month better-for-you sweets maker, Tazzy Candy, introduced "Do Good" Acai Berry Lollipops. The vegan lollipops contain no sugar and are made with flavors and colors from real fruit and vegetable juice and are available online in 3-packs of 7-count bags for $18.

Yogurt maker DAH! added a new flavor to its slow-cultured, drinkable Lassi yogurt line. Tomato with Mixed Berries is made with real fruit and contains 60 billion live probiotics in each 32 oz. bottle. The new flavor was launched in partnership with Indian-American author, TV host and culinary expert Padma Lakshmi who recently joined the company’s board of directors and will serve as a brand partner. DAH!’s Tomato with Mixed Berries Lassi is available online and at select retailers for $64.99 per 6 bottles.
