NACS 2019 Gallery: New Better-for-You Bites

This year’s annual National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) trade show featured a wide range of innovation in fruit, vegetable and protein-powered snacks — including new single-serve sizes ripe for c-store placement. In this gallery, we highlight a handful of new products from the show that forecast a future of wellness-minded on-the-go snacking.

Nut brand Snak Club, owned by Century Snacks, launched Everything Bagel Cashews and new packaging for its portfolio. Each serving has 5 grams of protein and no preservatives, artificial colors or flavors; 4-oz packs retail for $3.99. The brand’s updated resealable pouches will debut in December.

Navitas

Superfood brand Navitas Organics debuted its Power Snacks in new single-serve packs with an MSRP of $1.79. The plant-based, gluten-free snacks are made with dates, nuts and seeds and available in Blueberry Hemp, Chocolate Cacao and Cacao Goji flavors, each with 80 calories per serving.

Recently launched cauliflower pasta brand Veggiecraft Farms debuted a line of plant-based snacks, including crunchy cauliflower puffs in Black Pepper and Sea Salt and Honey BBQ flavors, all made with real cauliflower.

PeaTos

Pea and lentil-based snack brand PeaTos debuted a better-for-you take on Funyuns, along with new packaging for its Crunch Curls as well. Available in Classic Onion and Fiery Onion flavors, the Crunchy Rings will come in single serve .6 oz. bags and multiserve 2.5-oz. bags, with an MSRP of $1.29 and $3.59, respectively.

Nut brand Second Nature, owned by Kar’s Nuts, launched antioxidant snacking blends with berries, nuts and chocolate and salad medleys in Protein, Antioxidant and Omega-3 varieties that contain dried fruit, nuts and seeds.

Performance nutrition brand Optimum Nutrition (ON) debuted plant-based Protein Nature Bites in flavors Chocolate Truffle, Chocolate Sea Salt, Chocolate Coconut and Chocolate Mint. Each 1.97-oz package has 14 grams of protein. The product was first announced in June.

My/Mo

Mochi ice cream brand My/Mo debuted a new 2-count pack format of its mochi dough-covered ice cream treats in Sweet Mango, Ripe Strawberry and S’mores. The brand last month also introduced seasonal flavors Pumpkin Spice and Apple Pie a la Mode.

After debuting frozen bars this spring, KIND Snacks launched new nut-based bark in Dark Chocolate Almond Salted Caramel, Dark Chocolate Almond and Sea Salt, Dark Chocolate Almond and Cherries, and Dark Chocolate and Roasted Peanut flavors in 3.6-oz packages.

Cannabidiol (CBD) company Docklight Brands debuted Marley CBD dark chocolates in Jamaican-inspired flavors: Candied Ginger, Blue Mountain Coffee, Jamaican Spice and Sea Salt, each with 10mg of CBD, adding to the brand’s lineup of CBD beverages.

CBD brand Holus Pure Premium CBD launched gummy bites in mango, strawberry and pineapple. The brand also produces topicals, tinctures and pet treats.
