Position: Sales Business Unit Director (BUD) - Central USA

Reports to: Chief Growth Officer

Position Purpose:

The purpose of the Business Unit Director position is to lead a team in developing and executing strategies that are both customer and brand centric ensuring long term growth for the Wholly Veggie brand. The BUD Central USA, will be responsible for overseeing the Central US region, covering all accounts both independent and conventional for the region. They will work hand-in-hand with our broker, overseeing growth in the region.

Nature and Scope:

The BUD will be held responsible for both short – and long-term performance. He/She will lead in planning regional marketing strategy and oversee all local marketing activities, including: brand building events, opinion leaders, sampling, communications (regional field level) and direct oversight with broker/s. The BUD will work closely with Wholly Veggie brokers and distributors in the region to proactively grow and develop the team and ensure alignment with Wholly Veggie’s objectives and strategies. This individual will coordinate his/her activities with Wholly Veggie’s senior management to ensure consistency in marketing and sales.

Principal Accountability:

Specific responsibilities for the BUD will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Work closely with the Chief Growth Officer and other key members of senior management team to develop annual sales and marketing plans and budgets for the Business Unit.

  • Ensure that sales objectives are achieved; budgets are consistently met; trade promotions are executed; and that marketing, sales, general and administrative costs are actively managed to meet the objectives of the region.

  • Manage the overall development and execution of short – and long-range

    sales and marketing programs, which will include ongoing strategic analysis of Nielsen’s and SPINS data (eventually consumer insights) to grow sales, distribution and awareness

  • Oversee the development and execution of all marketing plans, brand building events, opinion leaders, sampling, regional communications, and trade marketing.

  • Develop and lead relationships with Wholly Veggie broker/s and distributors in the region and work closely with the field marketing team to ensure consistent execution in the field and an integrated approach to the business planning process.

  • Attend all key/regional account presentations

  • Attend all regional and national trade shows

  • Work with Wholly Veggie broker/s to establish business goals and GTM strategy

  • Work closely with the field marketing team to ensure consistent execution in the field and an integrated approach to the business planning process.

  • Ensure successful execution of all sales and marketing programs both in Regional and National scope.

  • Build and maintain a motivated and loyal staff, ensuring their growth and increasing contributions to the Company.

  • As a key member of senior management team, participate in the development and execution of the company’s long-term strategic plan.


Qualifications

    • Communication – strong oral and written skills. Proficiency in excel, PPT, and how to read data (spins, Nielsens)
    • Decision Making – ability to multi-task, and make decisions on the fly 
    • Experience – 3-5 years of experience in a sales related role 
    • Passion - must have a passion for food
