New City Brewery

Brewers of all experience levels are invited to apply! We are excited to grow our brand in 2022 and are seeking production brewers, as well as an experienced head brewer. 

New City Brewery was established in 2013 and brews about 1000 barrels per year on 30 BBL, 10 BBL, and 1.5 BBL systems. We distribute in MA, CT, FL, and CA, with the goal of adding additional states in 2022.  Our preferred candidate for brewer will be seeking to grow with us as we position ourselves as a respected, creative, and fun brewery in the region.

We are seeking candidates to perform the following duties, but will provide training, as necessary:

  • Operate all functions of the brewery under supervision of the head brewer, including wort production, fermentation / cellaring, packaging QC & QA checks, CIP procedures, and detailed record keeping.

  • Follow brewery SOP's and ensure quality standards are always met.

  • Ensure proper fermentation process, including handling of yeast, gravity monitoring, cell counts, pitch rates, etc.

  • Execute proper beer transfer and filtration procedures.

  • Daily maintenance and proper cleaning of brewing equipment and the production facility.

  • Maintain and execute the production schedule, including brewing, packaging, cleaning, maintenance, etc.

  • Monitor raw material, packaging supplies, and finished goods inventories and communicate depletions to the management team.

  • Assist in growth projections, and with new recipe and product development

  • Work with the purchasing team to maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure consistent procurement and supply chain management.

  • Occasionally represent the brewery at local events, trade shows, festivals, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a brewing position for a commercial brewery

  • Organizational ability to handle all day-to-day operations of brewery production.

  • Mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills are a plus.

  • Flexibility to work long hours when needed to maintain production obligations.

  • Ability to create consistent, timely production of core styles.

  • Ability to safely work with common brewing chemicals.

  • Packaging, kegging, canning/bottling experience.

  • Ability to assemble, clean, and troubleshoot draft beer systems.

  • Ability to maneuver 55lb grain bags & 165lb kegs (feel free to get creative!)

  • Physically able to handle heavy lifting all day.

  • Basic knowledge of applicable trades such as carpentry, plumbing, or metalworking a plus.

  • Forklift operator license a plus.
