THE JOB

The Director of Sales is a fantastic opportunity for a sales leader who is hungry to grow a purpose-driven emerging brand. This role will lead and manage all sales activities across their assigned geography to include key account management, planning, forecasting, and data analysis to drive new business, increase velocities, build market share, and increase brand awareness – all while establishing long-term partnerships with customers. This is a fantastic opportunity for a sales leader who enjoys being scrappy and ready to roll up their sleeves.

This role will require a proven track record with experience profitably building a high-growth brand through strategic management of large and small grocery retailers, distributors, and broker partners. This candidate will play a key role in identifying and developing the tools, resources and processes necessary to continue our strong growth trajectory. It is essential for a candidate to embody a growth mindset, have a bias toward action, demonstrate a strong ability to problem solve, and enjoy the challenge and rewards of delivering results. This person must be organized and be a strong communicator who is looking to be part of an exciting, fast-paced, innovative company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver against company and territory business strategy

  • Achieve annual revenue, distribution and profit goals for all products within assigned territory

  • Develop and own annual customer strategies, planning calendars, process, and implementation

  • Optimize relationships with key retailers to promote best-in-category partnership opportunities – product mix, innovative programming, points of distribution, trial, and velocity

  • Create strategic and profitable trade spend programing to achieve sales goals and improve promotional performance - think outside the box promotionally to challenge the status quo of promo depth, cadence, and style

  • Be primary owner of key relationships with strategic distributor partners, UNFI and KeHE

  • Partner with VP of Sales and Marketing team to develop strong retail marketing support plans that compliment trade and national programs

  • Ability to mine syndicated category data (IRI, SPINS) and own presentation deck updates that are tailored to retailers that will achieve a successful outcome

  • Working with the VP of Sales to manage broker partners with regular interface to track performance and planning. Hold broker partners accountable for metric driven results

  • Identify and pursue appropriate new opportunities including customer and SKU expansion

  • Create, develop, and present effective sales presentations

  • Measure and analyze key performance indicators (including ROI)

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 6-8 years sales experience in CPG calling on Grocery channel, Natural and Mass retailers - preferably in snack categories

  • Deep understanding of grocery landscape at every level (retailer, distributor, broker, etc.) including experience managing UNFI/KeHE

  • Self-starter who is extremely result and detail oriented

  • Passion for entrepreneurship and sustainability

  • A thought leader with the ability to strategically execute plans and ideas

  • Positive attitude, a thirst for knowledge, and an excitement for growing our business

  • Desire to excel and grow with the organization

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and have a good grasp on analyzing category data (SPINS, IRI)

  • Willing to travel extensively (when travel permits)
