We’re searching for a craft-beer-loving, full-time Tasting Room Manager to lead our Leucadia Tasting Room and team. The Tasting Room Manager motivates and inspires, sets the bar for superior service and quality, and leads by example to create a welcoming environment ensuring that our community—team members and loyal customers—always have an exceptional, memorable experience at Saint Archer.

A passion for all things craft beer, a 'people-person', as well as the ability to taste, describe and evaluate qualities and characteristics of beer is a must, as is a commitment to following and championing all COVID-19 health and safety protocols and preventative measures. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible role, requiring a flexible schedule and the ability to work days, nights, and weekends in our sunny Leucadia, CA tasting room, right on the 101 just steps from the beach (rough, we know.) Sound like you? What you’ll be doing:

  • Greet, thank, educate and advise guests about Saint Archer’s award-winning products, history, and culture, while serving and setting the standard for an exceptional environment and developing meaningful relationships with guests
  • Drive revenue generation for the Leucadia location through incentives and promotions, community outreach, parties, and special events
  • Promote a positive people-first and safety-first team environment, while leading by example, following all company SOP's, policies and procedures, and exhibiting exceptional judgment
  • Create monthly staffing schedules for each shift, ensuring all shifts are covered, managing time-off requests, attendance, and the team is equipped to be successful
  • Supervise bar staff, ensuring proper staffing, training, beer education, development, employee relations, and performance in collaboration with HR and the Tasting Room Operations Manager
  • Ensure exceptional quality control of all Saint Archer products
  • Respond to guest inquires and complaints
  • Oversee daily tasting room operations: guest and beer service, open/close, cash procedures, ordering, inventory, POS, reporting, menus, and vendor relationships
  • Maintain and set the standard of tasting room cleanliness, organization and exceptional appearance, including behind the bar, aesthetics, cold box, office, restrooms, patio, and merch store
  • Manage the beer line draft system, maintaining all aspects of regular maintenance, line cleaning, and cold box organization, and training beertenders on draft systems
  • Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons and leading communication with, de-escalation, and possible removal of problem customers in a professional manner
  • Champion and follow all health and safety protocols in adherence with local, state and federal laws and regulations and Company policies to protect the health and wellbeing of all Saint Archer staff and guests

What you need for the role:

  • Passion for craft beer!
  • Servant leadership mentality and exceptional interpersonal skills, including patience, empathy, problem-solving, flexibility, and a love for meeting, empowering and interacting with all people, alongside a commitment to providing exceptional customer service
  • 3+ years of beer serving experience in a beer bar
  • 1+ years of people management experience
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Cicerone Certification preferred
  • LEAD Certification (required before start date)
  • Extensive knowledge and ability to talk fluidly about flavors and profiles of all styles of beers
  • Working knowledge of high-volume operations and safe, responsible alcohol service
  • Knowledge of the craft beer industry and brewing process
  • Effective time management, self-motivated, and ability to work independently and lead a team
  • Passion for delivering true hospitality with a customer focus
  • Ability to train, motivate, and develop the team while working collaboratively in a tight space
  • Ability to take feedback to heart and put it into practice
  • Quick and efficient without being brisk and rude, while retaining self-composure, managing stress and having good judgment
  • Exceptional work ethic and ability to jump in feet first
  • Commitment to the Saint Archer vision, brand, and community
  • Top-notch organizational skills and administrative ability for reporting, scheduling, and recaps
  • Computer proficiency (POS systems and MS Office)
  • Little to no travel is required for this position
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Frequently required to work 6-8 hours on your feet
  • Frequently lift and move up to 44 lbs and maneuver up to 100 lbs
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work a minimum of 36 hours per week with days, nights, and weekends and occasional holidays available
