About the Role

Pop and Bottle is looking for a Director of Operations and Co-Manufacturing to join our team. This is a key position in a fast-growing start-up where you will play a leadership role within the Operations team and work cross-functionally to drive significant impact within the organization.

The Director of Operations and Co-Manufacturing will be responsible for managing the Operations team in all end-to-end planning and execution across the life cycle of our products – from procurement and manufacturing, all the way to delivery to the end customer/distributor. The ideal candidate will need to have strong skills in management, manufacturing, procurement, planning and logistics.

--> Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

Co-Manufacturer & Production Management

  • Manage current and future co-packers to meet the production needs of Pop & Bottle’s current and new product opportunities

  • Evaluate contract manufacturers qualifications, equipment capabilities and needs

  • Work with production scheduling to flex capacity at multiple manufacturing facilities

    across the United States

  • Working with co-man partners to ensure optimal quality control requirements are in

    place for production

  • Confirm pre-production and post-production and project specific requirements are

    being carried out

  • Prepare metrics, production reports, and analyze line loss results

  • Maintain and develop positive relationships with management and staff at each facility

  • Exercise good judgment in problem solving and quality concerns

  • Document processes and procedures which standardize and support company and

    regulatory information requirements

 

Procurement & Logistics

  • Oversee procurement and movement of bulk ingredients, packaging, and other materials

  • Oversee sourcing of ingredients to meet quality, price, and volume needs

  • Negotiate key procurement contracts including ingredients and packaging

  • Work with the logistics team to oversee and optimize inbound and outbound freight

  • Analyze warehousing locations to ensure logistics costs are minimized across the

    supply chain

 

Product & Innovation

  • Support the Innovation team in bringing new products to market

  • Work with co-manufacturers to document processes for new products

  • Ensure specifications are defined for new products, and assist co-manufacturer on

    implementing necessary quality controls

  • Work with sales and forecasting team members to execute launch of new products

    on time and to forecast

 

General Operational Initiatives

  • Support the company in achieving key operational goals including:
    • Lowering cost of goods and increasing gross margin
    • Lowering freight and logistics expenses
    • Lowering production costs and maximizing output
    • Implementing sustainability measures across supply chain and production o Ensuring optimal fill rates across product lines to maximize sales

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field

  • 8+ years of experience in the food and beverage industry is required

  • Experience in manufacturing, operations, logistics, and procurement

  • Strong negotiation skills and communication skills

  • Strong skills in time management, prioritizing tasks, and being efficient

  • Be able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment - be self-directed/self-motivated

  • Enjoy complex problem solving and creative thinking

  • Must be able to work in partnership across functional areas within Pop & Bottle: Manufacturing,

    Quality, Demand Planning, Production Scheduling, Logistics, Inventory, Supply

    Chain/Procurement, Marketing, R&D, and external contacts (co-packers and suppliers)

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and lead in a high-growth environment and manage ambiguity

  • Demonstrated ability to drive and deploy best practices processes across operations

  • Experience in dealing with highly volatile supply chains

  • Ability to drive organizational improvement through goal setting and management of KPIs

  • Empathy, kindness, and a curiosity for learning are a must!
