
SUMMARY
The Assistant Brewing Manager works with the Brewing Manager to oversee day-to-day operations and perform all Brewer job duties as needed, including on call responsibility for the brewing team. Additionally, this role works on new product development including contributing to the generation, gathering and organizing of ideas and concepts and producing pilot brews for ongoing innovation.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Day-to-day operations on the brewing floor including work in the brewhouse, and cellars.
- On call to assist with production/maintenance and call outs as needed.
- Act as Brewing Manager when current Manager takes leave.
- Assist with sourcing materials and vendors needed for new products.
- Assist in generation of new ideas by various means (ex. meetings with Marketing, Sales, and Production). Ideas generated from these meetings, as well as other sources, can be used to aid the design of new products under the direction of the DuvelUSA Brewmaster, Director of Operations and the Brewing Manager.
- Manage formulation, production, analysis and tasting of test brews.
- Provide TTB formula for submission on new products when appropriate.
- Assist with End of Month Inventory.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- At least five years brewing experience
- Thorough understanding of brewing process
- Strong leadership/management skills
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently and with limited direction
- Strong alignment to company culture and values
- Ability to collaborate and work well with management, peers and across functions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work weekends as needed; weekend rotation for checking systems and brewery events assistance
