Operations Manager:

Kings County Distillery has an immediate opening for an Operations Manager. The Operations Manager position at Kings County Distillery will ensure that all procurement of supplies and materials, sales, and administration tasks: AR/AP, payroll, taxes, etc. are managed. Human Resources responsibilities include but are not limited to: maintaining personnel records, recruiting, payroll, and workers comp. This position will play a key role in managing and aiding in all operations and efficiencies of the office, production, and retail departments of the company.

Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

Administration:

Responsible for various administrative tasks including, but not limited to: 

  • Reviewing and submitting state and federal excise tax paperwork

  • Keeping current on state licensing for distribution

  • Submitting label approval documentation using Federal submission software

  • Keeping the company compliant with all laws, specifically those related to alcohol trade practice, and maintain all required licenses for operations

  • Manage all trade show sign-ups, awards competition submissions

  • Occasionally entertaining clients onsite: tours, drinks, etc.

  • Will aid in cultivating and maintaining business partnerships and collaborations 

Financial Management

  • Manage financial administrative needs of the company, including but not limited to:

    • Accounts payable: entering bills and ensuring timely payments

    • Will be required to submit purchase summaries and outstanding checks every Friday which can display purchases for each department and checks outstanding

    • Will be required to manage budgets and alert management about departments going over budget on a monthly basis

    • Manage credit card administration

Procurement and Logistics

  • Responsible for ordering equipment, materials, and supplies

    • Must be able to liaise with the facilities manager, head of production, head of distilling, gatehouse manager, and tour managers weekly for order submission: merchandise, supplies, materials, equipment, etc. 

    • Will be responsible for sourcing from suitable vendors for all materials purchased and recommend purchase cuts and negotiating terms when applicable 

    • Responsible for coordination of deliveries, shipping, and transport of materials ordered 

Production:

  • Oversees some aspects of the production schedule, from creation to execution, to meet sales projections, and regularly communicates with relevant departments on progress

  • Liaise with warehouse staff for transfers and logistics management

  • Supports the development and review of quality standards with the team to ensure consistent output quality with the Heads of Production and Distilling

  • Collaborates with the Facilities Manager on new equipment purchases/major expenditures to improve whiskey quality and maximize efficiencies

  • Engages with all whiskey staff in the development of new recipes, including the management and operation of the pilot system

  • Oversees and manages budgets, as well as capital expense requests and presentations

Human Resources:

  • Payroll, vacation time management, health benefit management, workers compensation

  • Onboarding, maintaining employee files

  • Aid management in recruiting, screening, interviewing, and placing workers

  • Facilitate, with management, conflict resolution of employee relations issues and disciplinary actions as needed 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year experience in the craft spirits, beer, or wine industry preferred 

  • BA/BS or higher preferred

  • Previous experience in office administration, HR or other related fields

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and work well with ambiguity

  • Social perceptiveness and understanding of team dynamics

  • Proficiency in excel and data entry
