Sales and Insights Manager

The primary purpose of this position is to communicate and sell Avery Brewing brands and programming to a select group of mid and small volume distributors across the country from Boulder, Colorado.  Requires the ability to build relationships with distributor brand managers and sales leadership remotely, while integrating annual plans, quarterly portfolio updates, distribution incentives and basic order planning. The secondary purpose of this role is to collect and analyze market, brewery, retailer and distributor level sales data to increase sales productivity and identify business opportunities for Avery Brewing brands.  Provides business insights and analytical support to Avery Executive team, Sales leadership, National Chain team and Avery sales team members in core geographies.  We are looking for an experienced sales manager who also has confidence in building and leading business data and insights into a talented sales team.

Responsibilities

Distributor Sales Communication:

  • Lead remote selling discussions from Boulder with select mid to small volume distributors on basic annual planning, quarterly new items, seasonal brands and local spending that will build Avery retail execution on core brands and packages
  • Lead creation of new Item/Seasonal information bundle with Marketing team that will inform sales and distributor teams on priority brand launches and programming
  • Share bi-monthly performance data with assigned distributors
  • Monitor orders of assigned distributors with support from Supply Chain team
  • Inform National Sales Director on volume and business trends with assigned distributors

Market Analysis and Insights:

  • Research and evaluate economic, competitor, market, industry and customer growth trends and conditions using Nielsen/IRI/Armadillo and VIP data systems
  • Align organization, distributor and retailer decision trees with VIP system and ensure data reporting accuracy
  • Develop and lead communication of weekly and monthly customized reporting of sales performance, on and off premise trends, new item placements, lost placements, market comparisons, comparative brand analysis and revenue growth
  • Analyze actual performance results vs monthly and annual sales objectives, MBOs, and sales forecasts with National Sales Director
  • Participate in monthly and weekly business meetings to inform leadership teams on trends and opportunities from market and business analysis

Business Planning Support:

  • Provide market insights that inform development of annual business plans
  • Assist the Sales team in creating Annual and Quarterly business plan reviews
  • Support development of annual budget tracking system for local market investment with Sales leadership team

Forecasting and Order Review Process:

  • Support the development of data resources that inform team on sales performance that improves forecasting and distributor product order processes
  • Review sales performance, distribution, rate of sale, and inventory trends that impact ordering direction and reduce both out-of-stocks & potential over-stocks

Pricing:

  • Lead PTR and PTC collection and analysis with sales team vs key competitive brands in core markets and share results with Finance team
  • Use PTC data by market to inform potential annual PTR increases and discount programs with key distributors in core markets
  • Support Finance team in maintaining price promotion calendars by state

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing or business management
  • 2 + years of distributor selling and sales analytics experiences
  • Strong understanding of the craft beer market and the three tier beer industry
  • Proven track record of selling to beer distributor sales leadership
  • Advanced problem-solving and analysis skills
  • Leadership of ideas and business opportunities across organization and sales team
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with VIP and third-party market data (IRI, Nielsen, Armadillo)
  • Proven ability to construct compelling sales materials for distributor sales teams
  • High level of organization and detail-orientation
  • Strong work-ethic and willingness to take initiative
  • Good attitude toward teamwork as well as the ability to work independently
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
