Vice President of Sales

A Vice President of Sales is the face of the company within a targeted market.  This individual is responsible for managing the brand, distribution channels, and deployment of sales for the organization. They are responsible for enacting the strategic sales plans based on company goals that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction for the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

     Customer Acquisition

  • Research, pursue, develop, and close new accounts

  • Perform due diligence, utilizing Salesforce: log information, follow “Guidance for Success” tips, document, and sell the product

  • Brand knowledge, ability to identify the market, find the sweet spot, identify contacts, find a warm way in, sell the product

  • Adequately prepare for meetings: understand the strategy, develop a script, identify questions to ask, prepare presentation, understand time allotted

  • Build, maintain, and share a high level of competitor and segment knowledge

  • Knowledge of product offerings, pricing, discounts, promotions, and slotting fees

  • General understanding of forecasting, price modeling, profit & loss, and contract development

  • Follow up with prospect/customer post meetings

  • Attend and work tradeshow booth as needed and defined by the Sales Director

  • Plan and maintain the logistics of travel schedule: considering cost effectiveness, plan multiple meetings in same area, plane tickets, hotels, etc.

  • Adequate time management and self-driven to discover sales leads and opportunities


Customer Retention

  • Work with Sales Director to seamlessly onboard new customers

  • Perform customer visits and face to face meetings as needed or recommended by Sales Director

  • Maintain customer relationships, with regular follow-up (i.e. quarterly)


  • Be responsible and motivated to achieve forecasted sales goals

  • Assist and provide input for sales forecasting

  • Work closely with entire Sales and Marketing teams on product launches, training, communication, sales support, and promotional tools for your accounts and prospects

  • Ensure Salesforce is updated daily

  • Compliance with all company and regulatory policies/guidelines relating to food safety and quality

  • Willingness and proven ability to learn new systems and processes, undergo training and evaluate and implement process improvements

  • Attend by phone/in person weekly sales meeting updates


Job Requirements:


      • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college/university, or comparable experience in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) sales industry

      • Travel required, some nights and weekends required for customer meetings, shows and conventions

      • An ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment

      • Proficient computer skills (MS Office applications) – including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, One Note, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Power Point, SalesForce etc.

      • Best-in-class oral and written communication skills: negotiation, deal creation and presentation skills

      • The ability to be a structured and organized thinker who can drive projects to completion with minimal direction: attention to detail and ability to deep-dive when necessary

      • Proven ability to balance multiple priorities to close business

      • High energy and stamina


      • Prior sales experience in the CPG industry preferred

      • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively handle multiple tasks at one time

      • Able to work effectively and professionally under stress

      • Effective interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with a diverse work group

      • Effective communication skills, clear, concise, nice, and very specific
