Rising Springs seeks Director of Sales with successful track-record in beverage/CPG industry

Our Reason for Being:  We are the stewards of an ancient natural spring source located in the pristine mountains of Idaho. We passionately believe our consumers derive great personal benefits from consuming our product and we do everything we can, including packaging in a 5 Liter bag-in-box & bottling in glass, to deliver our water to consumers in a healthy and environmentally responsible way.

Our Plan: Our long-term goal is to establish Rising Springs as the premium health & wellness bottled source water in the United States, but we all know that doesn’t happen overnight!  Initially, we intend to focus our efforts on the west coast of the United States and target sales to restaurants, natural food stores, single serve locations like markets, and online sales. We occupy a 10,000 square foot production plant in Pine, Idaho. Currently, the plant has bag-in-box & glass manufacturing capabilities. We aim to scale the Rising Springs business over time while maximizing production capacity with anchor tenant white label partnerships.  

Our Need: Rising Springs seeks an experienced Director of Sales to lead development and implementation of a strategic sales plan in order to reach the company’s goals for retail expansion.  

This will require a driven, entrepreneurial individual who will report directly to the founder and current CEO.  The ideal candidate will be based in either Idaho (near location of the bottling operation), Oregon (where we have some support personnel) or California (the biggest market). 

We have a culture of promoting lots of group input and individual responsibility. Our Director of Sales will promote and thrive in that environment and not slip into “top down” thinking.


  • Establish collaborative relationships with key team members to create strategic and scalable solutions to drive growth of the Rising Springs brand.

  • Develop a detailed sales and market launch plan with targeted accounts identified and sales results tracked.

  • Develop a keen understanding of target markets and trends.

  • Hire, train, and lead the sales team through management & communication of vision.

  • Create a robust set of KPI’s and analyze sales activity effectiveness, identifying gaps and rapidly problem-solving.

  • Create systems to report results to the team in “near time.”

  • Configure and refine the annual sales budgets. Handle P&L and margin management.

  • Develop a marketing plan in support of sales versus “brand building.” 

  • Identify revenue goals and implement account plans (i.e. promotions, ads, field marketing.)

  • Alongside the Controller, develop enterprise systems to analyze distributor inventory and sales needs for production requirements.

  • Direct and manage third-party partners i.e. distributors and brokers.

  • Assist the founder in analyzing future needs in production and operations capacity, products, and sales personnel. 

  • Explore alternative sales opportunities to expand the company’s customer base and increase revenue.


  • Beverage sales experience is a must.

  • Experience in the restaurant/foodie/hospitality world and existing relationships with on & off premise accounts is a big plus.

  • Working within an entrepreneurial culture with a “do-what-it-takes” mentality a big plus. 

  • Our consumers have a genuine passion for health and wellness, so having a Director of Sales with those same core values is important.

  • Successful track record of driving sales within a high-growth environment that meets or exceeds sales targets on a year-over-year basis.

  • Experience with a hybrid distribution model (UNFI/KeHe, DSD, DTC,) with an understanding of pricing architecture and distributor incentives including manufacturer MCBs, OIs, co-op programs, etc.

  • Experience selling in diverse sales channels, including independents, Natural & Specialty Grocery Chains, and Conventional Grocery Chains.

  • Experience using syndicated data.

  • Ability to work and communicate using the latest technology.

  • Ability to travel.
