The Data Pricing Analyst will work with complex data sets to help the business determine and set competitive prices to gain market share and achieve revenue and EBITDA goals. They will be responsible for developing pricing tools that are used throughout the company to more quickly respond to changing market needs or trends. They will use statistical modeling methods to prepare reports that show the potential impact of various pricing strategies, including their effect on margins and costs and how they will impact profitability and sales volume. They will monitor industry trends, to develop strategies that take advantage of untapped market segments and help the company gain market share in new categories.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ability to forecast and run pro-formas, to manage uncertainty and build models with imperfect data sets
  • Assessing data from a variety of sources and using it to derive insights into pricing strategies and market trends
  • Utilization of quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze competitor pricing, assess market share and margins, rack customer engagement to gain a complete picture of effective pricing strategies for the company's offerings
  • Forecast revenue and market share information
  • Work with sales and marketing personnel to develop and enact competitive pricing strategies
  • Analyze data and customer responses related to return on investment (ROI) for existing marketing and promotional programs and determine more effective ways to gain market share
  • Monitor the results of pricing decisions by evaluating performance in relation to budget and profit margins and communicating with the sales team regularly
  • Monitoring market trends of the CPG industry as a whole and discover trends that have potential to improve sales volume or profitability and recommend pricing strategies that align closely with these trends
  • Synthesize external trends with internal data, including material costs, production costs, prices of products currently on the market, advertisement costs, current financial status and budget
  • Develop tools that streamline the analysis process and provide more immediate information about competitor prices and promotions
  • Present findings to executives, marketing teams, and sales personnel through weekly or monthly meetings
  • Translate complex data into actionable strategies and techniques to drive sales and enhance marketing efforts, these reports will be both written, visual and oral to share their findings
  • Think holistically about pricing, strategy beyond just a single SKU to drive results for the whole portfolio
  • Work independently to gain analytical insight to questions, discover or build the right approaches to get answers versus running an existing model
  • All other duties as assigned

Other Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage master data, including creation, updates, and deletion
  • Provide quality assurance of imported data, working with quality assurance analyst if necessary
  • Managing and designing the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata
  • Supporting the data warehouse in identifying and revising reporting requirements
  • Supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalization
  • Troubleshooting the reporting database environment and reports
  • Training end users on new reports and dashboards
  • Providing technical expertise on data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in economics, business, computer science, statistics or a similar field
  • Work experience as a data analyst or in related field
  • High-level experience in methodologies and processes for managing large databases
  • Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of excel statistical package
  • Strong familiarity with utilizing time series data
  • Familiarity with linear regression, curvilinear regression, correlation

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of one of the following: Matlab, Hadoop, Azure data science lab, Microsoft Power BI
  • Capable of using code in one of the following languages for statistical analysis and data set management: Python, C/C++, VB script only if their native platform for stats is Excel (suboptimal)
  • Firm understanding of microeconomic concepts, understanding of elasticity
