We are looking to hire a bright, motivated Plant Manager to join our rapidly-growing operations team. This leadership position is responsible for running our current warehouse and manufacturing operations and will be a member of MATI’s leadership team.  The Plant Manager will direct all aspects of operations including raw material forecasting and ordering, production, QA and shipping to meet customer needs and achieve standards related to cost, line efficiencies, waste, safety, and productivity. 

A successful candidate will have work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food or beverage, superior analytical, communication, and organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, possess high aspirations, and have a strong desire to join a start-up business.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as on-site leader for all operations at MATI’s Clayton production facility with an emphasis on company values, professional development, morale and teamwork.

  • Coordinates with sales team to manage production, raw material ordering and shipping to meet customer demand.  Forecast and purchase raw material needs to ensure timely ordering and receiving of necessary goods.

  • Schedule and direct brewery operations through production of various MATI products as determined by the sales forecast.

  • Supervises all production processes; developing the weekly production schedule based on customer demand and distribution center inventories, adjusting as needed.  

  • Ensures production is cost effective by seeking opportunities for continuous improvement (labor reductions, waste reductions, etc.) and at the required quality level.

  • Analyzes and evaluates operational KPI’s, such as efficiencies, processing yield, process control charts, budget and cost variances; adapting and establishing plans and procedures with the teams as necessary to affect favorable resolutions. Coordinates and facilitates all systems activity within the area of responsibility, establishing project priorities, and schedules, and ensuring compliance with internal systems and procedures. 

  • Monitors and audits records for all phases of production relative to safety, food safety, key performance indicators, orders completion, and personnel and/or labor-related issues.  Ensures that Product Quality is an absolute priority.
  • Influences all staff to report food safety issues to personnel with authority to initiate immediate corrective actions.
  • Oversees warehouse, Shipping and Receiving including the supervision of carrier management processes, freight quotes, and contract management for domestic freight (both inbound and outbound).  Ensures that shipping is timely, complete and cost effecting. 

  • Initiates or facilitates, as assigned, special projects or task forces dealing with operation problems or new procedures. Projects may be focused on optimizing or growing existing operations and capacity or identifying new approaches such as co-packing, west coast warehousing or other.

  • Ensures operation of equipment by authorizing repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

  • Monitors and audits to ensure all products are manufactured to written specifications and all procedures are complied with

  • Position has responsibility to ensure and maintain a food safe environment through compliance with all requirements in Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Quality, Workplace Safety, Integrated Process Management (IPM), Occupational Safety Health Act (OSHA), Environmental Standards, and polices/programs as may be required by Plant, Company, Local, State, and/or Federal mandates or programs. Facilitates efficient problem-solving directions, influences, supports and establishes work team concepts and practices toward continuous improvement concepts. 

  • Manages all direct reports with coaching, performance reviews and development plans.  Ensures that staffing levels are maintained through MATI’s growth to meet demand effectively and efficiently.

  • Create SOP’s for immediate area of responsibility and train/assist other functional areas to develop SOP’s required under GMP.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent communicator, leader and team player.

  • BS in science, chemical engineering, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of work experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment, preferably consumer packaged goods.

  • A minimum of 2 years work experience in a management position.

  • Experience working with ERP Systems: NetSuite experience preferred.

  • Detail oriented professional with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and produce quality work under tight deadlines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time, up to 8 hours.

  • Must be able to frequently move/transport product weighing up to 50 pounds across facility.

  • Must be able to regularly ascend/descend ladders, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.

  • Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned and or to make general observations of facilities or structures.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactory results of a criminal background check.
