Position Summary:

Directs, implements and coordinates all operations in backing company growth while driving company strategic financial initiatives.

Overall Responsibilities

Typical duties include the management of daily operations of supply chain, quality assurance, production planning, procurement, vendor relationships, product development and inventory management.

  • Responsible for continuously improving company margin by driving down costs and improving efficiencies
  • Maintains and improves company objectives for inventory turnover of raw materials and finished goods
  • Works closely with the Finance team to develop and manage the department budget
  • Works with internal, cross-functional teams to support sales initiatives and company objectives
  • Works closely with Finance team and with internal, cross-functional teams to improve company efficiency by reviewing and supporting the implementation of new technologies
  • Establishes and monitors staff performance and development goals, assigns accountabilities, sets objectives, establishes priorities, conducts annual performance appraisals, and recommends salary adjustments
  • Interacts regularly with executive team and individual department heads to ensure that company’s operational priorities are aligned with total company direction
  • Continually improves operational efficiencies in support of strategic goals

 

Responsibilities by Function

Supply Chain Management

  • Manages all aspects of freight to our co-packers and third-party warehouses
  • Negotiates rates and contracts for freight to our co-packers and to our customers
  • Negotiates contracts and manages relationships with third-party warehousing

 

Quality Assurance

  • Oversees quality assurance for each co-packer and all external third-party testing 
  • Leverages co-packers internal quality assurance teams to oversee and direct quality assurance for the Mamma Chia brand
  • Utilizes third-party labs and consultants to double-check copacker’s direction, when needed

 

Production Planning/Inventory Management

  • Oversees or plans all production for each of the five current manufacturers
  • Plans stock levels to meet company sales objectives for fill rate and inventory turnover

Procurement

  • Oversees all procurement of raw materials for each manufacturing facility
  • Recommends when new positions be taken in long term contracts of raw materials including, but not limited to, Chia and negotiates contracts after new positions are approved
  • Manages raw material planning, costing and contracting

Product Development

  • Manages all aspects of product development from inception to completion and serves as liaison with the executive team to communicate project milestones and timelines
  • Manages third-party product development consultants where applicable
  • Leads and coordinates product innovation meetings

Vendor Partners

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with outside partners such as co-packers, third-party warehouses, transportation providers and third-party certifiers
