Cincinnati’s Hen of the Woods Snacks Launches New Line of BBQ Seasonings

CINCINNATI, Ohio— Hen of the Woods Snacks, best known for their kettle cooked potato chips and dip mixes, announces a brand-new line of meat rubs and seasonings, just in time for summer. Created with Hen of the Woods Snacks’ extraordinary chef-crafted seasonings by Founder and Chef Nick Marckwald, these dry blends of the freshest most flavorful spices and ingredients available are ready to amp up whatever protein you choose to get the grill treatment, as well as a host of other uses in the kitchen (recipes can be found here.)

The four new meat rubs join Hen of the Woods’ ever-popular Bourbon Barrel Smoked Spice Blend and include Steakhouse Style, Texas BBQ, North Carolina BBQ, Memphis BBQ and Kansas City BBQ. Steakhouse Style Meat Rub, 3 oz, $6.99 Steakhouse flavor without the collared shirt or price tag. We’ve crafted a classic steakhouse dust that brings you sweet paprika, garlic, onions, peppercorns and sea salt. Apply this liberally to your cut and blow your friends away with the amazing crust you’ll get on the outside. All you have to do is not overcook it (we can’t help you there). We’ve used it on everything from strips to prime rib and other red meats to pork, wings, turkeys—even veggies—and have never been disappointed.

Texas BBQ Meat Rub, 11.55 oz, $15.99 This right here is something special. We went heavy on the black pepper, ancho, guajillo and chipotle to create a savory blend elevated with Tex-Mex flare that will make you think you woke up in southwest Texas. Of course, this means juicy, flavorful beef brisket cooked low and slow, as well as ribs, pork and chicken—but get inspired and try it on a turkey leg. No matter how you do it we’re sure you’ll agree—this rub will takes things to the next level.

North Carolina BBQ Meat Rub, 11.7 oz, $15.99 The go-to workhorse. This quintessential sweet heat blend is the closest thing to an all-purpose rub in the line-up and references the BBQ style that is quite possibly the oldest in America. With layers of spices, pepper and brown sugar, this seasoning plays well with pork, beef, chicken—you name it—and makes one helluva bark.

Memphis BBQ Meat Rub, 11.3 oz, $15.99 Ginger? Rosemary? Allspice? Memphis, which positions itself as a challenger to Kansas CIty as the true epicenter of barbecue, does its own thing and it all starts with the rub. This sultry flavor profile is unlike any other region and is a showstopper on all things pork and ribs, but we’d be lying if we didn’t say chicken quarters or turkey legs didn’t deserve a little Bluff City treatment as well.

Kansas City BBQ Meat Rub, 11.2 oz, $15.99 Ah, Kansas City, where BBQ is so ingrained into daily culture that it’s widely touted as America’s capital by the experts. Our rub honors this distinction by balancing sweetness, smoke and spice. We’ve finished it with the perfect amount of smoked sea salt, so whether you’re loading up spareribs on the smoker or pork shoulder in the oven, you’ll get that keenly identifiable flavor through and through.

Bourbon Barrel Smoked Spice Blend, 10.5 oz, $15.99 The Original Hen of the Woods All-Purpose Meat Rub. Once we discovered a black peppercorn that had been smoked with the bourbon barrel staves of Kentucky’s premier distilleries, we knew we had to create a blend we couldn’t live without. We’re all big fans of a Montreal-style seasoning, so we took a crack at it and what we have here is an incredibly unique and versatile blend. We’ve used it on everything from prime rib and other red meats to pork, wings, turkeys—even veggies—and have never been disappointed.

Salt, Pepper, Garlic Seasoning (SPG), 3.85 oz, $6.99 Sometimes three’s a crowd, but here it’s just right! Salt. Pepper. Garlic. Can it really be that simple? The answer to that is yes, yes it can. This perfect lil’ blend can find a home on your veggies, chicken and burgers. If you’re feeling extra, sprinkle it on some fresh mozzarella… drooooool.

Everything Bagel Seasoning, 3.5 oz, $6.99 You bring the bagel; we got the flavor! After perfecting the Everything Bagel Kettle Chip and then our Everything Bagel Dip Mix, we couldn’t stop there. So we left the sesame seeds whole, the onions and garlic chunky, and finished it off with a touch of fennel and caraway. It’s the classic Everything Bagel flavor, just leveled up a notch the Hen of the Woods way.

Buttermilk Ranch Seasoning, 3.3 oz, $6.99 Our famous Buttermilk Ranch seasoning, but now in a shaker! Consider this a legacy product. We first made this blend when we created our original Red Wine Vinegar chip back in 2013 for our first chip customer, a local bar. Not much has changed since then when it comes to the recipe—which is super-duper secret—and it still holds the crown as the office favorite. It’s got a nice buttermilk flavor punctuated by bold onion and finishes just right with an assortment of bright herbs. Sprinkle liberally on popcorn, mac ’n cheese, potato salad, chicken, baked potatoes and anywhere else you want a delicious buttermilk, herb and onion flavor.
